“DIY Laser Guy,” Drake Anthony, whose YouTube channel includes a plethora of homemade laser creations, recently unveiled his newest: a laser shotgun comprised of 5W-laser beams, totaling 40 watts of power.
The parallel beams are manipulated with lenses, similar to how a choke modifies the spread of a shotgun blast.
The massive diode array is powered by a huge lithium polymer battery pack (capable up dumping 250A) and the laser array is regulated by 24 LM317 drivers.
“This is definitely the craziest thing I have ever built, but I hope to beat this invention with something even crazier before too long,” Anthony wrote on his YouTube channel, StyroPyro.
Watch his laser shotgun in action below. (he even sets wood and paper on fire with it).
