The Landing Impact and Research Facility at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va., was originally built in 1963 for the purpose of testing the lunar landing module for Apollo moon missions. The facility contains a 240-foot high and 400-foot long steel structure. The facility now holds crash tests of full scale aircraft in controlled conditions as well as splash tests of space capsule mock ups.
The Langley Research Center posted this video on it’s YouTube channel which compiles a series of its crash tests over the years. Check it out!
