It appears to be an ordinary keyboard — but it’s not. LG has just announced that it will release a wireless, rollable keyboard for use with your tablets and smartphones.
The portable keyboard rolls up along the four rows like a stick so you can carry it in a purse or briefcase.
The keyboard features high-contrast keys and a fold-out mobile device stand, and its 17-mm key pitch is similar to the 18-mm key pitch found on most desktop keyboards. The device is made of polycarbonate and ABS plastic and includes two fold-out arms for your mobile devices to be placed standing upright.
When a user unfolds the Rolly Keyboard the auto pairing function is enabled, capable of connecting two different devices at the same time via Bluetooth 3.0, and you can toggle between the two devices by pressing a button.
The keyboard runs on one AAA battery that can power it for up to three months.
“The goal was to create a product that could add more value to LG smartphones and tablets at the same time offering a unique design proposition that hadn’t been explored before,” said Seo Young-jae, vice president in charge of Innovative Personal Devices at LG Electronics.
The keyboard will be released in September in the U.S. first, but will eventually be available for purchase in Europe and Asia. Pricing will be revealed at the time of its release.
