Watch: Robot Sets New Rubik’s Cube Record

Mitsubishi’s robot, TOKUFASTbot, has taken on the Rubik’s Cube, and set a new world record in the process. Breaking the 3.13-second record for solving the Rubik’s Cube set by Max Park in 2023, the robot did it in only 0.305 seconds—that’s less time than it takes a human to blink, giving new meaning to “if you blink you missed it.”

How did it do it? The TOKUFASTbot has a rotation mechanism capable of a 90-degree turn in just 0.9 milliseconds, made possible by Mitsubishi Electric’s signal-responsive servomotors and a cutting-edge color-recognition AI algorithm. The robot can assess, plan, and execute the puzzle’s solution faster than we can see it happen.

The robot TOKUFASTbot is not a one-trick pony. Its primary role is to enhance motor manufacturing for everyday appliances.
