Bluetooth-Connected Scale Monitors Your Every Meal
A start-up company called Taav Tech wanted to develop a high-tech solution for global obesity, so co-founders Theodore Brown and Andrew Brown came up with Modus.
Modus is a lightweight food scale with Bluetooth capabilities that’s small enough to fit in your pocket. that was small enough to fit in a pocket. The device is portable and easy to use with the accompanying smartphone app, offering a convenient way to track nutrition.
After developing numerous prototypes and a functioning app, the duo is ready to launch a Kickstarter campaign to raise production funds. The scale will be available for an early-bird price of $79 once the campaign goes live.
How does Modus work?
To use the device, users can turn it on for immediate connection to the app (available for free on both iOS and Android devices). To determine the nutritional content of a meal, the app will walk the user through a four-step process which includes setting food on the scale and inputting meal information.
The app is equipped with a built-in database of 9,000 foods and drinks, but you can add your own if they aren’t included. The app tracks your eating and drinking habits over time.
The Modus also has a temperature sensor, which it uses to improve the accuracy of its measurements, that the user can access via app.
