Build and control robots with just your hand, no coding skills required
If you’ve ever wanted to build your own robots, but weren’t too technical, a company called ZiroUI, a start-up that made its first appearance at CES 2016 earlier this year in Las Vegas, is now letting you design, build, and animate robotic inventions, and then control them with the lift of a finger or a flick of the wrist.
Users can get started with Ziro pre-made kits or assemble their own personal designs using eco-friendly materials like cardboard boxes. If you have some old boxes laying around, simple attach some motors to any material and the creations come to life.
Once the robots are constructed, users can animate them using hand gestures synced to the smart gloves. Hand gestures send commands to the motors so that when the user moves, so do the robots.
Ziro works along with a smartphone app where users can configure the motors using the pre-made programming templates or input their own custom commands. Once synced, the glove takes over control of the bot.
Modules can be animated in a hinge or 360º rotational movement, which adds dynamic movement to the robot.
Right now anyone interested can head over to the company’s Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to snag a kit for an early-bird price of $150, with estimated delivery in January.
