Using HD imaging and Df2 technology, the best venipuncture area for taking blood and avoiding the ever so common complications, can be found all thanks to Christie Medical, and its ‘VeinViewer’ product.
Instead of nurses having to fiddle around and try to find a vein in several parts of your arm and body, VeinViewer is an imaging device which uses near-infrared light that is absorbed by the blood and then reflected by surrounding tissue.
The information which is captured is processed and projected digitally in real time directly on to your skin, which shows an accurate real time image of the patient’s blood pattern.
VeinViewer uses AVIN (Active Vascular Imagining Navigation) that allows you to see up to 15mm deep in a patient to view blood patterns and relevant veins up to 10mm deep.
Peripheral veins, bifurcations and valves and the refill/flushing of veins can all be seen and assessed in real time, without causing and punctures.
Christie Medical offer three types of devices that are all vein illuminators and can provide benefits for the patients during the entire, pre, during and post vascular access procedure.
The VeinViewer Flex is a small portable device which is the brightest and only handheld vein illuminator which can benefits the patient through their entire extracting process. More suitable for doctor’s surgeries, clinics and Emergency Services the Flex was designed with durability and maximum portability.
The demand for an ultra-portable and reliable vein finder is also extremely useful for departments where space and speed are essential.
Offering more bedside assistance and mobility, the VeinViewer Vision has quick set-up and an optimal hands-free solution.
This is the third generation of the technology and allows the professionals to see the vasculature in a far deeper and more detailed image with more accuracy. With fast and easy set-up it is practical to use and runs on battery or AC power.
With the stand and mobility holding the device the clinicians can use a hands-free technique to hold or help the patient in more difficult positions.
Depending on the patients skin color, the VeinViewer Vision 2 can change color to give you a better picture, and you can focus more on the veins to make them a clearer picture. This model of the VeinViewer is hospital durable and designed for facility-wide use. It is far easier to move and position with a flexible wrist joint and articulating arm, meaning the patient can be accesses from head-to-toe without re-positioning.
Additionally the Vision 2 device can invert or re-size the image using a fine detail mode, and increase or decrease the brightness. Storing a PNG file of the image is another advantage as the clinician can chose which image is best for her and store them as a record. 200 static images of the patient’s vasculature can be stored on the device and transferred over to a PC.
George Pinho, President, Christie Medical, said: “VeinViewer is the only device of its kind to have a positive impact on a patient’s experience due to improved peripheral IV insertion.”
A spokesman for Christie Medical added: “You are now able to see so much more than you would with the naked eye.”
