How this tiny disc can make your ordinary watch a bit smarter
Over the past few years, smartwatches have popped up all over the place. But what if you’re stuck with your ordinary watch and wish it was a little more high-tech.
An Amsterdam-based team of designers and developers has come up with a solution: Trivoly, a tiny disc that slips right underneath your ordinary watch to make your watch smarter.
The device is just 0.3-mm thick but comes packed with functions like a fitness tracker, messages, notifications, calls, alerts. You can even control some smartphone functions like your camera and iTunes directly from your wrist.
As an added bonus, you won’t have to take the same selfie-shots anymore. Instead, set up your phone at a distance and snap directly from your watch.
By connecting to the Trivoly smartphone app, you can set different colors and tones for different notifications to your watch or hook it up to the optical heart rate sensor and step counter.
Trivoly also acts as a remote control for your music system by skipping tracks and controlling volume! The device works with Sonos, Spotify and iTunes.
The company has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise production funds. If you’re interested, you can pre-order a Trivoly for an early-bird rate of $99.
