Lockheed Martin, Microsoft to Power Next-Gen National Security for DoD
Lockheed Martin and Microsoft announced they are expanding their strategic relationship to power next-gen technology for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). The agreement will involve four areas, including:
- Lockheed Martin will be the first non-government entity to operate inside the Microsoft Azure Government Secret cloud
- independently
- A two-year collaborative research and development (R&D) program to advance artificial intelligence, machine learning and modeling, and simulation capabilities for the DOD
- Delivery of advanced networking and secure 5G at the tactical edge
- Microsoft Azure will power Lockheed Martin’s digital transformation journey to deliver innovation at scale, to create the next generation of defense technologies
Lockheed Martin’s use of the Azure cloud will deliver protection across all devices, clouds, apps, and platforms. Microsoft’s industry-leading cybersecurity leverages massive signal depth and diversity of more than 24 trillion signals per day, as well as cutting-edge AI/ML and a global team of security experts.
The capabilities unlocked by this collaboration will apply to a range of defense applications across all domains: land, sea, air, space, and cyber.
