I guess kids won’t have to brace themselves to see what kind of toy was included in their happy meal. In order to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Happy Meal in Sweden, each meal will come equipped with virtual reality goggles.
The initiative, called Happy Goggles, was developed in order test a modernizes version of the Happy Meal and provide a digital experience in addition to the physical toys usually found in the box.
McDonald’s Sweden is first in the world to transform the Happy Meal box into Virtual Reality goggles. When you fold the box in a specific way, the result, with the addition of a pair of lenses, is the VR Happy Goggles.
When combined with a smartphone, the Happy Goggles lower the threshold so that everybody can afford to experience VR.
To go with the Happy Goggles, McDonald’s is also launching a VR skiing game called “Slope Stars“, a 360° ski experience which allows users to open the doors to a world of fantasy, fun and how to stay safe in the ski slopes. The game is endorsed by the Swedish National Ski Team and will be available beginning Friday, March 4th.
