Mercedes-Benz electric-only from 2025
Mercedes-Benz is planning to go all-electric by the end of the decade and is implementing a series of plans to pull it off, including:
- From 2025, all new architectures will be electric-only, launch three that year
- Company to install battery cell capacity of more than 200 Gigawatt hours with partners—planning eight Gigafactories
- Acquisition of YASA ultra-high performance axial flux motors to boos efficiency of electric drivetrains
- Plug & Charge to eliminate extra steps for authentication and payment
- Mercedes me Charge planning more than 530,000 AC and DC charging points globally
- By 2022, Mercedes-Benz will have battery electric vehicles (BEV) in all segments the company serves
Moving from electric-first to electric-only, Mercedes is accelerating toward an emissions-free and software-driven future. From 2025 onwards, customers will be able to choose an all-electric alternative for every model the company makes.
