NASA Covers Webb Deployments Live
NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope is on its way, completing the intricate process of unfolding as it travels. The telescope’s sun shield and primary mirror were folded origami-style to fit into the Ariane rocket, its taxi into space. The telescope launched from Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana, on Christmas day. NASA expects to provide live broadcast coverage and updates on the Webb’s deployment from NASA TV, nasa.gov, and the NASA app.
NASA’s live broadcast coverage includes:
- Sunshield tensioning (Jan 2)
- Secondary mirror support structure deployment (Jan 4)
- Webb deployments completed (Jan 7)
The Webb’s goal is to explore cosmic history from our solar system and through distant galaxies. For more information about the Webb mission, visit: https://webb.nasa.gov
