Phihong Announces 45W USB Power Delivery 2.0 Adapter with USB-C
Phihong has introduced a new 45W USB power adapter that is ideal for charging a wide variety of mobile electronic devices and peripherals, including mobile phones, tablets, notebook computers, monitors, and networking devices. The new 45W USB wall plug adapter, designated the PSA45A-200Q, features the latest USB 3.1 Type-C receptacle, which allows users to plug the USB Type-C cable in whichever way they would like, eliminating frustrating connection attempts. Compliant with the USB Power Delivery Specification, the adapter can add up to 20V to the USB Power Delivery Profile 3 output voltage, delivering 5V or 12V at 3A or 20V at 2.5A, depending on its USB communication with the powered device. As such, this model is capable of charging both Chromebook and MacBook computers.
“Designed to provide highly efficient charging solutions for current and next-generation mobile electronics, the PSA45A-200Q is one of the first standard USB power delivery 2.0 adapters on the market, and is already compliant with the US Department of Energy’s new, more stringent Level VI efficiency standards, which will go into effect February 2016,” said Keith Hopwood, vice president of marketing for Phihong USA.
Compliant with and USB power delivery 2.0 standards, in addition to US Department of Energy (DOE) Level VI and European Union Code of Conduct (CoC) V5 Tier 2 high-efficiency standards, Phihong’s new 45W USB adapter is available in two different versions to suit both North American and European input voltages. The adapter is also certified to IEC/EN/UL 60950-1 safety specifications, and has built-in over-voltage, over-current, short-circuit, and over-temperature protections.
The PSA45A-200Q measures 67mm x 46.7mm x 29mm (2.64” x 1.84” x 1.4”) and weights 165g (5.82oz). Operating temperatures for the series span 0˚C to +45˚C. Pricing for single unit quantities starts at less than $10.00 each when sold in OEM quantities, and samples of the PSA45A-200Q should be available at Phihong distributors by mid-December 2015.
