Polaroid’s Newest Camera Prints Photos Instantly – Without Ink
Over the years, Polaroid has made a name for itself in instant photography. It seems like the company is always releasing some kind of new camera technology for the photo-crazed.
It’s happened again. Polaroid has just announced the Polaroid Snap instant digital camera at IFA 2015 in Berlin, Germany. The Snap combines the company’s Zero Ink Printing technology platform which lets users print and share physical photos at the push of a button, and also save their image for computer or social media upload.
Instead of printing out photos in ink, Polaroid Snap uses the ink-free Zero Ink Printing technology developed by ZINK which employs ZINK Paper embedded with dye crystals and a protective polymer overcoat and uses heat to activate and colorize the crystals. The result is a full-color, high quality, and smudge-proof image without needing ink cartridges, ribbons or toner.
Photos print in under a minute (hence the name “instant photography”) and each picture has an adhesive back so it can be used as a sticker.
The camera features a Micro SD card slot that holds up to 32GB to save, transfer, and upload images to a computer. Polaroid Snap offers different capture modes including: color, black and white, and vintage Polaroid photo inspired. The camera also features a photo booth mode, which takes six quick pictures in ten seconds, and the option of printing with or without the Polaroid Classic Border Logo format. Users can also take the perfect instant selfie thanks to the camera’s self-timer feature.
The camera will be available at the end of the year for $99. For more information, visit Polaroid.
