How cool is this? Arc’teryx and Skip collaborated to launch MO/GO, the world’s first pair of powered pants, to make human movement downright joyful while increasing stamina and reducing pain. The wearable robotic solution tackles mobility challenges caused by aging, fatigue, and injury
while supporting outdoor recreational activities. The powered pants enable users to tackle elevation, providing a 40% boost to the leg muscles on the way up and knee support on the way down. It uses a battery-operated motor connected to a suite of sensors and a computer module that predicts and assists the user’s movements.
Arc’teryx integrated the system in a Gamma Pant for breathability, abrasion resistance, and softshell stretch for active pursuits. It co-created carbon support structures to spread the force from the motor across the leg for comfort during extended periods of hiking. They tested the new robo-pants on US and British Columbia hiking trails, and users say that MO/GO feels like a natural extension of their body, enhancing mobility without drawing attention.
Media and the public will be able to test MO/GO at the Arc’teryx Climbing Academy in Squamish, British Columbia, Canada, in August 2024.
The pants are available for reservation now, with shipments in late 2025. You can make reservations here: https://www.skipwithjoy.com/ .
