Safe and secure platforms presented for ARM based devices
Lynx has announced that it will be presenting its advanced RTOS and virtualization solutions at ARM TechCon (Santa Clara, 25th to 27th October, Booth 720). Lynx experts will be on hand to advise the ARM developer community on creating safe and secure software platforms for ARM based devices in IoT and IIoT systems. Lynx is a member of the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) Security Working Group and played an active role in drafting its’ recently announced Industrial Internet Security Framework (IISF).
Commenting, Robert Day, Vice President of marketing at Lynx said, “ARM is emerging as the platform of choice for the Internet of Things and the Industrial Internet of Things. The next generation of ARM based devices will need military-grade security with a proven and certified safety pedigree and will need to be secure by design. The ARMv8-A and ARMv8-R architectures, including the recently announced Cortex-R52 processor, include a great deal of standard hardware functionality that enables software platforms such as LynxOS and LynxSecure to offer the highest levels of safety and security without compromising on performance and usability.”
He continued, “Lynx products like LynxOS 7.0 and LynxSecure offer built-in security, fail-safe reliability and unique separation and isolation of IT and OT worlds. The security methods used in the IT world aren’t sufficient in the connected embedded environment, and proven methods and technologies like LynxOS and LynxSecure are required to protect against high profile and targeted attacks in automotive, industrial, transportation, medical and manufacturing industries.”
The LynxSecure Separation Kernel Hypervisor is a unique software platform which consists of a military-grade separation kernel that hosts isolated domains, each containing a separate virtualization stack to allow operating systems and applications to run in their own secure environments on a single hardware platform. LynxSecure supports an extensive range of environments, including RTOS, GPOS, and trusted bare-metal applications.
LynxOS operating systems and tools are based on open standards and allow embedded developers to design their systems to be more secure before they are connected to the internet. LynxOS is a deterministic, hard real-time operating system that provides POSIX-conformant APIs in a small-footprint embedded kernel. LynxOS provides symmetric multi-processing support to fully take advantage of multi-core/multi-threaded processors. LynxOS 7.0 includes new tool chains, debuggers and cross-development host support.
