Samsung reveals its smart windshield for motor bikes
With smart car technology on the rise, Samsung has presented a new safety concept that targets two-wheeled vehicles like motorcycles and motor bikes.
The Smart Windshield concept was developed in conjunction with the Italian division of Yamaha Motor. The Smart Windshield is the first intelligent windscreen scooter accessory designed to raise awareness among young people about the important issue of road safety on two wheels. The development comes after notice that in Italy, 25% of young people (ages 18 to 24) use smartphones while driving and put themselves and others in danger.
The Smart Windshield allows drivers to access information, like calls, texts, and e-mails, from their smartphones directly on the windshield.
The windshield is paired with a drivers smartphone via Wi-Fi and not only provides notifications, but also displays GPS and maps on the screen. Users can also set up automatic replies that they can initiate while driving, without having to stop and respond.
So far the windshield has been implemented on the Yamaha Tricity scooter, but there has been no word on when the product will be commercialized further.
