Sierra Space and IBM Collaborate on Space Tech and Software
Sierra Space and IBM just signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for collaboration on next-gen space technology and software platforms across Sierra’s range of space vehicles and infrastructure.
They will integrate IBM’s technology to coordinate the tasks and workload of Sierra Space astronauts through the company’s data analysis and collection technology and support Sierra Space in building a seamless technology platform in space. The plan is to provide a first-of-its-kind comprehensive platform that effectively services the cloud in space and drives mission operations. They will also support the development of new apps for commerce, research, and tourism.
The companies expect to drive a single, unified, and flexible distributed computing environment where users can easily build and modernize applications, make data AI-ready, and integrate and orchestrate workloads (across multiple environments and vendors) for flexible, secured, and open operations. They are considering developing and deploying terrestrially and in space.
