Stratasys Has Just Invented A New 3D Printer That Creates Entire Objects
3D printer company Stratasys has just unveiled the J750 3D printer, which is changing the way products are imagined and then brought to life by allowing for multi-color, multi-material printing. The printer, said to be a “game-changer” for 3D printing, offers a wide range of materials and colors so users can 3D print everything from lifelike prototypes to surgical-planning models.
With the new J750 3D printer, users can mix-and-match full color gradients, as well as choose from a plethora of materials, avoiding post-processing and cutting down production times.
The technology is said to change production for product designers, engineers and manufacturers, as well as service bureaus. Even OtterBox is excited about the new possibilities that the 3D printer has to offer.
“We’ve used 3D printers for years but nothing has come close to revolutionizing our design and ideation process the way the Stratasys J750 has,” said Brycen Smith, engineering technician supervisor for OtterBox. “Stratasys allows us to innovate in ways we never thought possible and gives us the ability to create true product-matching prototypes and to cut down the time necessary to bring products to market. The Stratasys J750 is a game-changer for both OtterBox and the 3D printing industry.”
Now, users can print in over 360,000 different color shades, with multiple material properties that range from rigid to flexible and opaque to transparent.
The J750 works in conjunction with PolyJet Studio software that allows users to choose materials, optimize the build and manage print queues. Colors, transparencies and rigidity can be handled via familiar design controls and color textures can be loaded fully intact using VRML files imported from CAD tools.
The printer features a large, six-material capacity, and keeps the most-used resins loaded and ready for printing. Stratasys also designed new print heads which reduce printing times by 50% so that no time is wasted on painting and assembly.
