TDK Receives Gold Medal in the EcoVadis Sustainability Assessment

TDK Corporation (TSE: 6762) announces that TDK for the first time has received a “Gold Medal” in a sustainability assessment by EcoVadis (headquartered in France), an international sustainability ratings organization.

EcoVadis assesses the sustainability activities of companies in four themes: “environment,” “labor and human rights,” “ethics” and “sustainable procurement.” It has assessed more than 130,000 corporations in more than 180 countries and over 220 industries. The top 5% of all assessed companies are awarded the Gold Medal. TDK received this rating by demonstrating improvement in all four themes in the latest assessment. In particular in “environment” and “sustainable procurement,” its ratings were high because it was recognized that the company had established a high-level management system for formulating policies, implementing measures, and reporting results.

Upholding “TDK Transformation” as the company’s long-term vision, the company aims to contribute to a more sustainable future by accelerating the transformation of society and advancements in technology enabled by electronic devices developed with cutting-edge innovation in materials, processes, and software technology. In TDK’s recent sustainability efforts, it proactively increased the percentage of electricity used by all manufacturing sites globally from renewable energy sources to 50% in 2023, two years ahead of its fiscal 2025 goal, and set greenhouse gas emission reduction targets verified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
