TDK Unveils AI Venture For Industrial Machine Health Via Edge AI and Sensor Fusion
TDK just formed TDK SensEI (sensor edge intelligence) to address the meeting of artificial intelligence (AI) and sensor fusion at the edge. The entity will focus on Industry 4.0, expanding further into machine and production health.
The Industry 4.0 solutions will combine TDK sensors, batteries, and passive component platforms with new and existing TDK software/edge AI with TDK hardware solutions such as motion, magnetic, microphone, current, temperature, and battery/energy harvesting sensor solutions. It will directly target manufacturing, heavy industry, and renewable energy.
“In industrial operations, the need for a fully integrated platform fusing multiple sensors and AI technologies at the edge is becoming essential in maintaining production uptime,” said Sandeep Pandya, the new CEO of TDK SensEI. “The promise of Industry 4.0 will be realized by those companies who lead in the commercialization of these solutions, which is why I’m excited to lead and grow this entity for TDK.”
The new company, housed in Singapore, will enable the processing of real-time data streams from the machines, which currently limits the ability to maximize and optimize production capacity. Central cloud services will give way to local, distributed edge locations.
The goal is for SensEI to create a new cutting-edge platform using TDK’s emergent AI expertise, simplify the deployment of multi-class ML anomaly detection models in the near term, and create long-term AI solutions.
