Terasic Launches TR4 Stackable FPGA Platform
Terasic Technologies is pleased to announce the launching of its new TR4 high-density Altera Stratix platform. Coming in two flavors of Altera’s Stratix IV GX with 230K LEs or 530K LEs, the TR4 is tailored for flexibility by allowing a stacking mechanism between boards, allowing users the ability to choose the number of logic elements required for the end design.
The TR4 enables stacking through multiple High Speed Mezzanine Card (HSMC) connector ports which feature backside male connectors for connecting to other TR4 boards. In total, there are 492 free I/O pins as well as transceivers that support a data rate up to 8.5 Gbps. The number of ports allows engineers to match the TR4 board to exact specifications by using add-on cards from Terasic or custom solutions.
The TR4 includes two Gen.2 x4 PCIe connectors that allow high-speed communication with a host computer. For memory, a DDR3 SO-DIMM module is provided, as well as on-board flash memory and high-speed SSRAM. The TR4 also features on-board USB Blaster for direct FPGA programming via USB.
