The 3D printing revolution
Although 3D printing originated in the 1980s, it has since come to popularity in the last few years as it has been further developed and new applications for the technology discovered.
In July, 2018, we had the world’s first family to move into a 3D printed home – so it is safe to say the potential applications for 3D printing are fairly sizeable. Advocates have even suggested that 3D printing could be used by engineers to help build colonies on the planet Mars.
So what has been created so far?
Not quite structures for Mars, the latest 3D printing projects have led to solutions for 3D touch displays in cars, 3D printed tools to maximize production efficiency and 3D printed business cards. It’s a start, but it’s not quite out of this world yet.
