According to CNBC’s article, Is 2021 finally the year for smart glasses? Here’s why some experts still say no: “Many products remain bulky, making it a hard sell for consumers looking to stay fashionable on the go, while slow connectivity issues dissuade those looking for efficiency.” That may now be a challenge met by Avegant and their just-announced AG-30L 30º and AG-50L 50º LED light engines.
Avegant’s 30º AR light engine uses proprietary technology to minimize engine volume and weight while preserving efficiency and MTF. The AG-50L, features a larger field of view and a more immersive AR experience for users while maintaining the compact, light glasses form factor made possible by the AG-30L version.
Avegant’s optical and illumination technologies combine high performance and manufacturability. A limited supply of engineering samples of Avegant’s AG-30L light engine will be available in late 2021. Engineering samples of Avegant’s AG-50L light engine will be available in early 2022. Mass production is anticipated to begin in 2023.
