Mouser Electronics is now stocking the Wireless Connectivity Kit from Digi International. The Wireless Connectivity Kit offers designers a hands-on way to learn how to use XBee radio frequency (RF) modules for device connectivity and sensor networking. The new connectivity kit offers beginners and experienced designers and engineers alike the opportunity to easily incorporate wireless communications into their designs, enabling fast time-to-market, design flexibility, low development costs, and excellent range.
The Digi Wireless Connectivity Kit, available from Mouser Electronics, provides examples and step-by-step guidance for creating reliable wireless communications, working control systems, and sensor networks. The kit includes two XBee development boards that feature Grove adapters, which provide interconnect capabilities with the modular Seeed Studio Grove system. The kit also includes two micro-USB cables, an XBee 802.15.4 module and an XBee-PRO 802.15.4 module.
The XBee modules use the IEEE 802.15.4 networking protocol for fast point-to-multipoint or peer-to-peer networking, and are designed for high-throughput applications requiring low latency and predictable communication timing. XBee 802.15.4 modules are ideal for low-power, low-cost applications. The modules are fully interoperable with other XBee products utilizing the same technology, so users can substitute one XBee module for another with minimal development time and risk. The modules provide up to 250 kbps of RF data, with outdoor line-of-sight transmission distances of up to 100 feet (XBee 802.15.4) or 1 mile (XBee-PRO 802.15.4).
