Wirelessly charge multiple devices at classic speeds with a super-thin pad
Wireless charging has become a pretty popular topic in the tech world and it’s safe to say that our electronics spend a lot of time sitting on surfaces. So why not utilize that fact?
Hopping on the bandwagon is a company called energysquare that aims to simplify charging with a wide and ultra-thin pad.
The energysquare wireless charger allows for multiple device charging at the same speed as ordinary chargers with no induction or electromagnetic waves. Instead, the device is made with a patented conduction technology.
The charging system is made of two components: a charging surface made of conductive squares inlaid into an insulated material and a thin sticker that is installed onto the back of a phone.
The sticker comprises two conductive electrodes and a connector that can be plugged on the charging socket of the device that’s going to be charged. Once the device with the sticker is placed on the surface, charge will begin automatically by physical contact.
The creators also embedded some special electronics that can deal with device detection and power distribution.
“Have you ever tried to meet up a friend or been running late to a meeting only to realize that your battery is about to die? At energysquare, we allow you to stay always charged. Our vision is that at every moment of your life, you can forget that you’re actually charging,” said Timothée Le Quesne, Co-founder, energysquare.
The product initially began as an engineering school project since charging devices was a hassle for Le Quesne and co-founder Daniel Lollo.
Now the team has launched the wireless charging product on Kickstarter and hope to raise funds for the first commercial product. If you’re interested, you can still snag one for $66 on the company’s campaign page.
