Meet the Teal drone. The world’s fastest production drone that can reach speeds up to 70 mph, withstand 40 mph winds, and can run as many apps as you’d like. The new drone comes equipped with an on-board supercomputer that gives it capabilities not provided by other drones. Teal comes with different modes ranging in skill level from complete beginners all the way to experienced drone racer.
The Teal drone offers command and control capabilities including live video streaming, waypoint navigation, geo-fencing, media management, and a built-in app store. It also has a “follow-me” applications that allows it to precisely follow a specific person or object based on image recognition conducted in real time, on-board the drone.
The drone’s creators teamed up with a company called Neurala, which has integrated their image recognition algorithms with NASA and The Air Force.
There’s also a racing option that lets drone pilots race against other Teal users, as well as record flight logs and telemetry and play challenges.
Teal’s operating system turns an ordinary drone into a development platform. It’s powered by the NVIDIA TX1, a mini supercomputer that allows it to handle machine learning, autonomous flight, image recognition — turning it into a flying supercomputer. Users can even plug Teal into a monitor and use it like a normal computer.
The drone has a plethora of applications including gaming, augmented reality, security inspections, e-commerce, agriculture, or just simplifying and automating drone flight.
